Step 2: Configure ShareX Settings

Once ShareX is installed, open the application and take some time to configure the settings according to your preferences. You can access the settings by clicking on the "Task settings" icon in the main toolbar.

In the settings menu, you can customize various options such as hotkeys, file naming patterns, image effects, and more. Take some time to explore the settings and adjust them to suit your needs.

Step 3: Capture Screen Recording

To create a tutorial GIF, we'll first need to capture the screen recording. You can do this by clicking on the "Capture" button in the main toolbar and selecting "Screen recording" from the dropdown menu.

Once you've selected screen recording, you'll see a selection box that you can use to choose the area of the screen you want to capture. You can also choose whether to record the entire screen or just a specific application window.

After selecting the area, click on the "Record" button to start capturing the screen recording. You can use the pause and stop buttons to control the recording process.

Step 4: Edit and Trim Recording

Once you've finished recording, ShareX will automatically open the recorded video in its built-in editor. Here, you can trim the recording to remove any unwanted sections at the beginning or end.

To trim the recording, simply drag the handles on the timeline to select the desired section, and then click on the "Trim" button to apply the changes.

Step 5: Save as GIF

After editing the recording, we can now save it as a GIF. To do this, click on the "Save" button in the editor toolbar and select "Save as GIF" from the dropdown menu.

You'll then be prompted to choose the output folder and filename for the GIF. Once you've made your selections, click on the "Save" button to save the GIF to your computer.

Step 6: Add Annotations (Optional)

If you want to add annotations or captions to your tutorial GIF, you can do so using ShareX's built-in image editor. Simply click on the "Edit image" button in the editor toolbar to open the image editor.

From here, you can use tools such as text, shapes, arrows, and highlights to add annotations to the GIF. Once you're satisfied with the annotations, click on the "Save" button to apply the changes.

Step 7: Share or Embed the GIF

Once you've saved the tutorial GIF, you can share it with others or embed it in documentation, presentations, or websites. Simply upload the GIF to your preferred platform or copy the embed code and paste it where you want the GIF to appear.
