A 2023 study across several Arab countries found that roughly a third of participants experienced increased glucose levels during the Ramadan fasting period compared to before it began.
Meal timing matters. Some evidence suggests eating later in the day — a common pattern for people who skip breakfast under a 16:8 schedule — may be somewhat worse for metabolic health and disease risk than eating earlier, meaning the specific timing chosen within an IF plan can meaningfully affect its outcomes.
