Andrew Kibe YouTube termination revealed

Dorothy Ooko, Google’s Head of Communications and Public Affairs for Africa, revealed and addressed concerns regarding the termination of Kenyan creator Andrew Kibe’s Youtube channel as she was responding to a tweet in which she was mentioned and where a user by the name of Wairimu Mariam criticized the action, calling it an embodiment of cancel culture.

Wairimu Mariam had previously tweeted

Cancel culture cannot be allowed to take root in content creation. @kibeandy The termination of YouTube accounts is not about his message but a direct attack on the creative. Restore his accounts. Say no to cancel culture.

Google’s Head of Communications and Public Affairs for Africa retweeted explaining how Andrew Kibe violated YouTube’s terms of service, which resulted in the termination of the channel. Dorothy Ooko noted that while Kibe was prohibited from using YouTube features, such as uploading videos on his channel, he used another channel to get around these limitations and circumvented them, which led to the termination of all of his channels.

Kibe personally replied

Sounds so pedestrian. Can you show me the emails of the violations? That is the procedure right? I mean, there is no way YouTube permanently blocks any channel that has over 3000 videos with no proper trail. Be serious.

On September 11, Kibe’s YouTube channel was shut down. It had around 474,000 subscribers. The Comedian Flaqo and Ranasha Donna both suffered the same fate, however they all were able to get their accounts back. Kibe was asked by YouTube to provide the URL of his YouTube channel for additional investigation.
